Marlea J Kammers, 69, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away after a short but hard battle with cancer on April 4, 2017; she was surrounded by her loved ones.
Marlea was born August 24, 1947 in Marlette, Michigan to Marvin J Jefsen and Liela Ruth Nye. She grew up in Hessel, Michigan and Moved to her longtime home of Colorado in 1981. She loved the beauty of Western Colorado, residing for many years in Debeque, Colorado where she worked for Caldwell Honey Company, something she still had a passion for all these years later. And also did transportation for the town’s senior center. This is where she raised her son Michael Kammers, and loved watching him in all his hobbies, and sports. After Michael was grown she moved to Grand Junction, Colorado while working for Mesa County Workforce Center, where she quickly rose to a supervisor position and worked there passionately for numerous years. During this time she also fell in love with volunteering at the Homeward Bound Homeless Shelter where she cooked and served meals. She eventually retired to help in raising her pride and joy, her grandson Brayden Kammers. These two shared an incredible bond from the time he was born. They enjoyed traveling, doing anything outdoors, listening to music and of course taking care of their garden and their chickens. As her grandson grew older she found herself wanting to return to work.
Marlea was a kind, and giving soul who was full of passion, she loved the outdoors in all its beauty. She touched the lives of anyone she came into contact with and had a smile that could light up a room. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Marlea is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin J Jefsen and Liela Ruth Nye, and her sister Cindy Roy. She is survived by her son Michael J Kammers of Grand Junction, CO and her Grandson, Brayden E Kammers, of Grand Junction. Her sister Charlene Stier of Warren, Michigan, Brother Steve Jefsen of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Brother Warren Jefsen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Brother Gary Nye of Michigan.
