Mark died at his home in Norfolk.
He was born on February 19, 1956, in Norfolk, the son of Stanley and Carmen (Smith) Thornton. Mark attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated in 1974. He continued his education in Kearney.
He enjoyed all kinds of sports and was a passionate fan of Nebraska football. Mark was active in coordinating his high school class reunions.
He had been employed as a counterman at Kelly Supply prior to his disability.
Mark is survived by his mother, brother, Brad; his sister-in-law, Sandy (Thornton) Aletraris, Peachtree City, GA; two nephews and a niece.
He is preceded in death by his father and one brother.
