Mark passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2008 after a strong battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Buffalo Center, Iowa.

Mark enlisted in the United States Navy on June 30, 1942 and served in World War II on the USS Prince William and the USS Cape Esperance as a Radioman, Third Class. He was discharged on Feb. 14, 1946, with the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Area, 2 stars.

He moved to Flagstaff and enrolled in ASC, now NAU in 1947 and completed college where he met and married Donna McLeese. Together they raised four wonderful children, Colleen, Jeff, Steve and Kelly.

Mark was an active member in his community; involved in the Jaycees, the Sheriffs Posse, the American Legion, the Elks and 4-H. His voice as an announcer at horse shows and 4-H events is legend. Living in Flagstaff for over 60 years, he was a Teacher, a Radio Announcer, and a Real Estate Broker. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. Mark will be remembered for many things; among them his love for puttering around, be it either outside at the ranch, or in his home on San Francisco St. He also treasured the time he spent with his horse Sonny and the rides taken in golden aspen trees in the fall. He was a collector, and his many treasures filled his home with love.

He is survived by his long time companion and love Joan Chapman, his brother and sister in law Bob and Doris Sapp from Walnut Creek, CA; his sister and brother in law Roz and Dave Diggs from Missoula MT, his sons and daughters in law Jeff and Cathie Sapp from Roswell, NM; Steve and Denise Sapp from Ramona, CA; daughters and sons in law Colleen and Reed Yoder from Vacaville, CA; Kelly and Scott Shea from Big Sky, MT; and 9 grandchildren, Paige, Lindsay, Cassandra, Ashley & Breana Sapp; Shane & Landry Yoder and Tucker & Cooper Shea.
