Mark Randolph Campbell passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022 (87). Mark was born on August 18, 1934 in Goshen, Indiana to Stanley and Helen (Ruth) Campbell. Mark spent his growing years in Indiana, Florida and Chicago, along with several other states. Mark was the second oldest of eight children, Stanley Jr., Kay, (maternal and paternal) Mike, Rob, Will, Ginny and Rick (paternal).
Mark entered the Marines and served from 1954-1957 while stationed in San Diego, CA. This is where Mark learned the trade of making and painting signs, which would become his lifelong work. Mark met his loving wife, Liz (nee Van Meer) in Elmhurst, IL while attending college. They were married in Des Plaines, IL on December 19, 1959 and were married for 62 years. Mark and Liz resided in Lombard, IL where they had their two beautiful children, Cindy (born 1962) and Greg (born 1964). Mark began working for American Sign and Indicator in sales. Mark and the family were transferred by American Sign to Kansas City, Missouri, where they resided for just one year. Mark then moved the family to Boca Raton, FL and started his own sign company, Electromedia, Inc., which he conducted for over 50 years. Mark was a relentless hard worker and sold, designed and installed signs for banks, office buildings, healthcare facilities, shopping malls and many other facilities.
Mark and Liz loved living in Boca Raton, while making many rich friendships along the way. He was very active in the community of Boca Raton with the Jaycees and the Elks Club. Mark’s major passion in life, was fishing in any form and on any body of water. He was a man of the sea and could read the ocean and would find any excuse to get on the water with anyone he could possibly find, (mainly his brother Stan). His fishing adventures spanned near and wide throughout the country with family and friends. Mark was also an avid and accomplished athlete throughout his life, playing football, basketball, golf, tennis, and much more. Mark was never idle and would get a card game, board game, shuffleboard, darts, ping-pong, billiards or horseshoes to get everyone going. He was swift on his feet and absolutely loved to dance with his wife Liz. There was never time to sit around and Mark lived life to the fullest and in his way.
Mark is survived by his wife Liz, son Greg (Matt) and his siblings, Stanley Jr. (Jackie), Michael, Rob (Linda), Will and Ginny (Patti), nieces Stacey (George, son Ryan, daughter Kelsey), Connie (Jim, daughter Keri), Mary (sons Michael, Ryan and Matthew), and Rachel, nephews, Bengt (Mark), Eddie (Sherri, daughter Kalieen), Terry, Randy, Michael Jr.(Connie, daughter Tatum), Chris (Ellie), Jeremy and Nathan.
