Mark O. Buffington, 86, of Anderson, passed away on September 23, 2014 at Community Hospital Anderson.
He was born on February 29, 1928 in Muncie, IN to Mark (Sr.) and Stella Buffington. Mark was a 1946 graduate of Royerton High School. He later received an undergraduate degree from Kettering University, and a master degree in engineering from Purdue University. He was employed at Delco Remy Division of General Motors in both Muncie and Anderson for 44 years, retiring in 1991. His career included time in supervision, engineering and purchasing. Mark served his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 42 years where he served as a trustee and a volunteer in the service ministry.
In addition he served as an Asst. Scout Master, active member of Noon Kiwanis Club, and most recently the Lions Club. Mark is survived by his loving sons, David O. (Lisa) Ketner-Buffington and Stephen M. (Janis) Buffington; grandchildren, Christopher (Mica) Buffington, Jonathan (Meaggin) Buffington and Courtney Buffington; great-grandchildren, Gage and Benjamin; sister, Ruth Stanley; brother, Chase (Mary) Buffington; special friend Marilyn Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ruth “Carlene” (Veach) Buffington; parents, Mark Owen and Stella (Stradling) Buffington; and sister, Beverly Cheek.
