Mark Long, 81, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at his home.

He was born Nov. 24, 1937, in Burkesville, KY, the son of Henry and Marie Spears Long. He married Tammy Powell on April 17, 1999, in Osage Beach, and she survives.

He is also survived by three daughters and two sons, Pamela (Ashley) Redd of Alexander, Missy (Gregg) Burrus of Jacksonville, Dusty (Bryan) Vincer of McKinney, TX, Michael Stice (fiancé Amy Watring) of Jacksonville, and Dalton Stice; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Hollis (Ginny) Long of Jacksonville.

Mr. Long had worked at Carnation and later was a diesel mechanic for Moeller’s. He had also been an over-the-road truck driver, and later in life, owned and operated The Wild Side in Alexander for many years.

He had also enjoyed doing farm work for several area farms. He served with the Illinois National Guard and was a member of the Bro Riders.

Mark enjoyed his dogs. He had no enemies, was a loyal friend, and never met a stranger.
