Mark Edward South, 53, of Center St., died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 30, 2007) in Elkhart Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Aug. 6, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, to Dr. Dale R. and Mary Kathryn (Clymer) South Jr. He married Deborah Kay Riley on Nov. 26, 1977, at First Baptist Church, Goshen.
She survives along with two sons, Nathaniel South of Elkhart and Dale South III of Mishawaka; one daughter, Sarah South of Elkhart; one grandson; his parents of Elkhart; one sister, Susan South of Elkhart; and one brother, Daniel (Sandra) South of Lexington, S.C.
Mr. South was a 1972 graduate of Elkhart High School, where he played in the band and orchestra. Following graduation he played the trumpet with the Spurrows, a traveling musical group. He was active in the Elkhart Civic Theatre and a member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart. He worked for the Hehr Window Manufacturing Co. for more than 15 years as a salesman and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
