Mark Anderson Brown passed away in Greenville, South Carolina on May 26, 2019. Mark was born on May 19, 1957 in Newnan, Georgia. When not hunting or fishing, Mark was active in rec league and school sports throughout Coweta County. After graduating from Newnan High School, he attended Auburn University and earned a degree in philosophy, later earning a master’s in business. While at Auburn, Mark served as the president of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. After leaving the Loveliest Village on the Plains, Mark began what would be a long and successful career in business with a position at the family firm, Brown Steel Contractors, Inc. Following Brown Steel’s acquisition by a larger corporation, Mark moved with his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma before returning to Newnan to reinvent the Brown Steel brand and business.

After his two children graduated, Mark moved to North Carolina, where he met his wife Amelia, with whom he spent recent happy years. Mark will be remembered by friends and loved-ones for his sharp intelligence, commitment to his community, die-hard loyalty to his beloved Auburn Tigers, master abilities on the grill, enjoyment of gardening, and enthusiasm for new opportunities in business and in life. Mark Brown was preceded in death by his father, Sample Duncan Brown. He is survived by his wife Paula Amelia Thompson Brown; his children: Lauren Elizabeth Brown and Justin Alexander Brown; his step-grandchildren: Destiny Johnson, Landon Johnson, Vivian Johnson, and Reyna Haislip; his mother, Patricia Walls Brown; and his siblings: Leslie Brown Binion, Alan Scott Brown, and Matthew Kyle Brown.
