Mark Allen Booker, of Norman, was called home on the evening of Easter on April 17, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was 47 years old.
Mark entered this life in Salem, Indiana on January 31, 1975. He was the second born to Ronnie and Rita (Huffman) Booker, the younger brother of Missy and the older brother to Matthew and Jason Booker. Mark spent his life in Jackson County never leaving far from his family from Medora. He was a graduate of Medora Community Schools, where he excelled in high school basketball. Mark became a member of the ”1000 Point Club” his Junior year.
Mark was a passionate man of many hats. And with these hats he had passion with every aspect of his life. He was a loyal son, beloved husband, a dedicated father, a hugging Papaw, an avid deer hunter, a cattle wrangler, a logger, log buyer, and a constant provider for his family.
As soon as Mark turned 18, his father put him in a truck hauling lumber and never looked back. The love of the outdoors gave him a career that spanned over 30 years buying and selling timber for Land of Indiana and Booker Company where he worked next to his father, Ronnie. He used this knowledge of the woods to find the best hunting spots for deer. As soon as his son Cayden was old enough, Mark and he would venture off to their hunting spot. And when hunting season was out, Mark could be found watching his Hereford cows on the farm.
Mark’s love for basketball gave him the opportunity to serve as coach for Medora Community Schools. After coaching for over five years at Medora, he was asked to help coach at Brownstown Middle School Basketball, where he was able to coach his son for a season. He also coached a season of baseball. Mark had a love of all sports, and was a big fan of IU.
He leaves a legacy of love with his wife, Amber (Thompson) Booker of Norman, children, Victoria Booker and Destiny Booker of Medora, Cayden Booker of Norman, Skylar Thompson and his wife Cami of Scottsburg, Kiana Thompson and her fiancé Derek of Nabb, and Hunter Browning of Norman, two granddaughters, Ibrianna and Mackenzie, his mother Rita Booker of Brownstown, father Ronnie Booker and stepmother Connie of Norman, sisters Missy Stewart of White Creek and Jamie Knight and husband Howard of Harrodsburg, three brothers Matt Booker and his fiancé Amber of Ft. Ritner, and Jason Booker and his fiancé Joanna of Medora, Brian Patton and fiancé Brandy of Heltonville, two uncles Bob Booker of Orleans and Mike Huffman and his wife Deb of Brownstown, and three aunts Lisa Wilkerson of Brownstown, Debbie Landreth of Lizton, and Sally Shafer of Brownsburg, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by two uncles Don Landreth and Lee Booker and a Cousin Bobby Booker.
