Marjorie Weller, 101, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at West Woods of Niles. Born Marjorie Louise Frost on April 13, 1913 in Pokagon, Michigan, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University, and taught elementary school.

Marjorie began her teaching career in 1933 as the lone teacher at the one room school house on Avery Road, followed by teaching positions in Lakeside, Bridgman and at River Valley’s Chikaming Elementary, retiring in 1973.Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Dayle E. Weller in 1991.

They were married March 27, 1937 in the Three Oaks United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mae Frost, her brother Kenneth Frost, and granddaughter, Rebecca Hildebrand. She is survived by her three children, Daylene Lumis of Sackville, New Brunswick, Wayne Weller of Three Oaks, and Dianne (Ron) Jelinek of Three Oaks; three grandchildren, Eric (Laurissa) Lumis, Brita Lumis, and Jamie Hollenbeck, two great grandchildren, Simon Sorensen-Lumis and Julia Sorensen-Lumis.

Marjorie is also survived by six nieces and nephews, Bob Frost, Nancy (Marty) Skopec, Kay (Michael) Merrill, Leon (Ann) Weller, Janet (Paul) Grandlinard, and Anita (Jack) Vance.Marjorie will be remembered as a talented artist, vocalist, seamstress, organist, and a wonderful mother and grandmother who adored Torch Lake. She enjoyed a great sense of humor, strong faith, poetry, and creativity. Marjorie was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church.
