Marjorie Jean McBrierty Mastrangelo, 84, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Ormond Beach, Florida, Rosehaven, Maryland and Bowie, Maryland passed away on June 13, 2022 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida.
Marjorie was born on June 19,1937, in Hartford, Connecticut, to James McBrierty and Geraldine (Clarke) McBrierty. She was raised in Manchester, Connecticut and graduated from Manchester High School in 1955. Marjorie met her husband of 66 years, Eugene Mastrangelo while they attended high school together. They married on June 16, 1956.
Marjorie spent 24 years as a military wife during her husband Gene’s service in the Air Force and became skilled at the art of packing and relocating their family numerous times.
After many years as a homemaker Marjorie graduated from the University of Maryland with a master’s degree in Library Sciences and had a stellar 24-year career as a supervisor of cataloging at the Library of Congress.
She served several Catholic parishes in various Women’s groups, in Marriage Encounter, in RCIA and as Deacon Mastrangelo’s wife. She was a substitute teacher, a CCD teacher, a PTA officer, a Girl Scout leader and was a member of various knitting and quilting clubs.
Marjorie was a gifted seamstress and handicrafter, sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting her way through miles and miles of thread and yarn creating one of a kind handmade masterpieces for her family, friends and charities.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Eugene Mastrangelo; her children, Gina Griffith (Jim) of Vero Beach, Florida, Patricia Todaro (Ezio) of Surf City, North Carolina, Mark Mastrangelo (Agnes) of Great Mills, Maryland, Donna Drennen (Dan) of Havertown, Pennsylvania, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas McBrierty and her sister, Laurie McBrierty.
