Marjorie J. Kirkham, 86, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab.
She was born June 2, 1929, in Oxville, the daughter of Archie and Nina Morris Merriman. She married Joseph “Mike” Kirkham on Dec. 23, 1950, in Springfield, and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, Michael (Diane) Kirkham of Springfield; one granddaughter, Stephanie (Luke) Soderstrom of Holland, MI; one great grandson, Edward Soderstrom; and two brothers and one sister, Dude Merriman, Jim Merriman and Patricia Sheley. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Dean and John Merriman; and three sisters, Delmo Burger, June Kesterson and Betty Reed.
Mrs. Kirkham was a 1947 graduate of Bluffs High School and then graduated from Passavant School of Nursing in 1950. She worked as a surgical nurse at Passavant Area Hospital for 20 years, and then as a nurse for Meline Manor Nursing Home for 15 years. She enjoyed macramé and crocheting.
