Marjorie was born in Palisade, Nebraska, on February 13, 1927, where she lived with her parents and siblings, Shirley, and Wayne. She moved to Lincoln while attending the University of Nebraska.  She studied music and education degrees until she met her husband of 39 years, Robert (Jack) Stapleton. They married on June 27th, 1948.  With three small children at home, she continued to work on a bachelor’s degree. She finished in 1959 before the birth of her fourth child in 1960. She earned her master’s degree in 1969. She taught in Lincoln Public Schools from 1966 to 1978 when the family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she continued to teach in Scottsdale Public Schools until she retired in 1992.

Marjorie belonged to many civic organizations through her long life including P.E.O., the D.A.R., Delta Omicron and Kappa Delta.

She lost her husband, Jack, in 1988; her oldest son, Greg, in 2007; and her sister, Shirley Ploughman (née Premer) in 2009;.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Margaret and husband Mike, Carol, John and wife Donna, as well as her grandchildren: Michael, Kelley, Jeffery, Dana, Sara, Daniel, Paige and great-grandchildren Amelia and Lily.
