Marjorie H. Darland, 94, of Virginia, died Jan. 12, 2018, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
She was born June 19, 1923, in Cass County, the daughter of Harry and Nettie Johnson Hager. She married Charles B. Darland on May 14, 1941, in Cass County, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1994.
She is survived by her four children, C. Gregory Darland (wife, Kathy) of Racine, WI, Donna Darland Trenter (husband, Rick) of Virginia, Brenda Darland Bryan (husband, Gary) of Springfield, and Michael H. Darland (wife, Dianne) of Virginia; four grandchildren, Todd Baldwin of Havana, Curtis Engelman of Lebanon, Michelle Waters of Petersburg, and John Darland of Milwaukee, WI; five great grandsons; six great granddaughters; one sister, Janet H. Bailey of Glen Ellyn; and two nieces, Janyce Loughridge and Elaine Smolka.
Mrs. Darland was a 1941 graduate of Virginia High School. She was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Marjorie helped and worked with the first Virginia Bar-B-Q in 1966. The following year, she appeared on TV in Quincy, IL to help sell tickets for the prize drawing which was a new car. She was a member of Virginia Women’s Club and had also served as an election judge for many years. She loved to sing and play the piano.
