Our Dear mother, Marjorie B. Shack was born on August 15, 1953, the daughter of Nellie Mae Little and Francis L. Thomas. She was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 24, 2022.

Marjorie graduated in 1971 from North Pitt High School in Bethel, NC.  She moved to New York City to start a new life, and this is where she met her husband, Danny Shack, Sr.

From an early age she was strong willed, and her determination and perseverance always shined through. Marjorie was a pillar of her community. She was always helpful and never wanting to let anyone go hungry, she fed her community with joy and laughter. Her home was always open to anyone in need. She would offer her last even if it came down to the shirt off her back if you needed it. She was resilient, having the courage to bounce back and take risk despite adversity and setbacks. She used them as learning opportunities to do better. Tell her she couldn’t get something done and she’d show you she could. We will forever and always remember “Large Marge in Charge” as a fighter and go getter!

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Shack, Sr., her parents, Nellie Mae Little and Francis L. Thomas, Sr.; grandparents, Carrie and Herbert Little; sister, Nellie Thomas Baker; and brothers, William Little, Willie Little, Francis Thomas, Jr., Clinton Thomas, Wallace Thomas, and Alton Thomas.

Marjorie B. Shack leaves to cherish loving memories; a son, Danny Shack, Jr., of Alexandria, VA; two daughters, Carrie Shack-White of Brooklyn, NY and Danielle Shack of Williamston, NC; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Carolyn Council known as “Baby”, of Hassell, NC and Deloris Johnson of Greensboro, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal. She is going to be missed.
