Marita Joy Senft Jurs, 96, of Ottawa, formerly of Crystal Lake, died on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Ottawa Pavilion. Marita was born on July 29, 1918, in Woodstock, Illinois to Albert and Anna (Behrens) Schroeder.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa. She worked as a bookkeeper for a number of Crystal Lake businesses including Jewel Tea Company, Crystal Lake Country Club, Gumprecht Trucking Company, and Home State Bank. Marita was a member of Crystal Lake Senior Citizen’s Club, the Square Dance Club, Scat Club, Friendship Guild, Club 60, and the Birthday Club all in Crystal Lake. She volunteered for a number of Crystal Lake organizations following her retirement. She was a member of the Clara-Naomi Circle at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Harris, of Ottawa, and Susan Clark, of Waterloo, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, David Harris, Juliett Lyon, and Colleen MacDaniel, 2 great-grandchildren, Adam and Emily Harris, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Richard (Eileen) Schroeder, of Ocala, Florida.

Marita was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Senft, her second husband, Raymond Jurs, and two step-sons, Phil and Ron Jurs.
