Marion Mildred ( McCabe) 91 One of 6 children born to Dee and Lottie (Miller) McCabe in Elkhart Kansas.
The family soon moved to Hotchkiss Colo where Marion graduated from high school in 1949 and married Robert (Bob) Piburn of Crawford Colo on June 26, 1949. They celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage before his death in 1991.
In 1950 they had a son Colin, In 1959 they adopted a 5-month-old girl Nona, and in 1970 they started caring for foster children and eventually adopted 2 more girls, Donna and Renee completing their family.
In 1979 Marion’s father passed away and her mother Lottie came to live with the family, where Marion took care of her till her death in 1997.
Marion loved working and had jobs in grocery stores, department stores commercial laundry, and finally was a data entry supervisor for a marketing research company.
In Sept. of 2007, she married James (Jim) Cooley of Hotchkiss Colo. They were together for 9 yrs till his passing in June of 2016.
Marion had a great love of animals and was always saving strays. Once she even picked up an injured pigeon on the road at night, took it home, and spent months nursing it back to health to be released back into the wild. She was always up for a game of cards no matter what game it was. Her favorites were pinochle, cribbage, and the game of mahjong.
Marion’s hobbies included a talent for drawing, one of her favorite things to sketch were pin-up girls of the 40s.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, Bob Piburn, Jim Cooley-her sister May Morsman, 3 of her brothers, Verl, Leon, George (McCabe) her son, Colin Piburn, and two grandchildren,
Survivors include- 1 brother Roy McCabe, 3 daughters Nona Piburn, Donna Stout, Renee Waltz, 7 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
She once wrote ” I might not have accomplished everything in my life, nor fulfilled the dreams of my youth, but I have the love of God and family and the blessing of making life a little better for those I love”
