Marion “Buck” Lester Ownbey passed away on August 15, 2020, at the age of 77 in Idaho Falls. Buck was born August 30, 1942. He was the youngest of 13 children and grew up and attended school in St. Petersburg, Florida. For most of his life he lived on a dairy and had the responsibility with his siblings to milk the cows every morning and evening. This instilled in him the value of hard work.

His love for fishing provided many meals for his family as well as eating much of the fruit that grew abundantly from the trees around the farm. At the age of 14 he met the woman he would share his entire life and love with. On September 29, 1961, he married Penelope “Penny” McCormick. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Washington, D.C. Temple. Buck and Penny were married for 58 years and have 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Shane (Nikki) Ownbey of Pasco, Washington, Scott Ownbey of Palm Coast, Florida, David Ownbey of Meridian, Idaho, Rick Ownbey of Tampa, Florida, Penny (Rob) Bryson of Brooksville, Florida, and Shawnda (Gordon) Welker of Shelley, Idaho; sister, Donna Fields of Fountain, Florida and brother, Frank (Carolyn) Ownbey of Floral City, Florida. He is proceeded in death by 10 siblings and his parents.

The family wishes to express thanks to the wonderful people at Encompass Hospice for their compassionate care of our father.
