Marion Gertrude Scott was born in Chicago, IL on August 17, 1918 to Everett David Scott and Gertrude Anna (Von Hagel) Scott, and passed away on July 9, 2018, just one month shy of her 100th birthday. Marion grew up on the north side of Chicago where she graduated from Von Stuben High School in 1936 and went to Felt and Tarrent Comptometer School, graduated and became a comptometer operator. She met Clarence Henry Behn at a party in 1939 and they were married on February 15, 1941. Marion quit work at United Airlines when she was six months pregnant. After a few years on the south side of Chicago, they moved to Palos Heights, IL in 1950 and joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where Marion taught Sunday School for 15 years. Marion is survived by her three children: Norman Scott Behn (Cherie Gass), Carol Louise Maes (Richard Maes), and Patti Ann Westfall (Wesley Westfall). She was especially proud of her six grandchildren and their spouses: Christine Jensen (Knut Jensen), Jennifer Johnston (Christopher Johnston), Kacie Schmidt, Kurt Maes (Kim Wilson Maes), Dylan Westfall (Eleanor Casey Westfall), Emily Westfall (Aaron Boranian) and seven great-grandchildren: Ben, Daemon, Grace, Nicolai, Marcus, Conner, and Carson. Marion and Clarence moved to Arizona in 1971, when Clarence was relocated as a Senior Vice-President of Greyhound Corporation. They joined Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. After Clarence retired in 1980, they spent ten wonderful years traveling to 60 countries and 15 cruises. Unfortunately, both Marion’s mother Gertrude and husband Clarence died in 1990. Marion moved to Pueblo Norte Retirement Village in 2004 and lived there independently until 2018. She joined Ascension Lutheran Church in 2006. She enjoyed volunteering at church throughout her life, and also spent 37 years volunteering for the Foundation for Blind Children here in Arizona. A lifelong lover of games, Marion played bridge in many different bridge clubs for over 50 years. Last year Marion converted to Catholicism and attended mass at Pueblo Norte and Blessed Sacrament. Marion will be missed by her family and the many friends she has kept in contact with through the years.
