Marion E. WilhelmMarion Wilhelm, 78, was called home on August 15, 2015 while at Ashley Care Center in Ashley, MI. She went to join her dear Lord and her beloved husband and son along with other relatives who passed away before her.Marion was born on September 24, 1936 to Leslie and Ora (Wire) McKay in Benton Harbor, MI. Marion had a sister, Betty Small who survives her and a brother, Donald McKay. Marion was raised in Brant and graduated from St. Charles High Schools class of 1954. She married Dain Wilhelm on August 27, 1955 and was a homemaker, raising four children and working diligently to ensure her family always had canned goods to feed them through the winter months. Marion enjoyed gardening and canning. Her children remember the special days when they would come home to the smell of home baked bread and cinnamon rolls. Marion was a talented musician, playing guitar from an early age and was especially known for her strong singing voice which could harmonize effortlessly. She and family members played in a band at local establishments for many years. An avid Tigers fan with a thorough knowledge of the team statistics, Marion cherished the opportunity to banter with her son, Steven, about Detroits exploits during their weekly phone calls. Marion was a strong Christian woman who was concerned about the salvation of others. She taught Sunday School classes for young children for many years, often times picking them up and taking them to church. She loved children – they made her happy. For some years, Marion and Dain were part of the Brant Euchre Club. Marion also enjoyed painting and was very artistic. Marion also had a very tender heart for animals and was kind to animals through the years. She had many special pets in her life. Marion was pre-deceased by her parents and her husband, also by her brother Donald and son is survived by her children Rosalie (Mark) Whaley, Steven (Kelly) Wilhelm, and Neil Wilhelm; her grandchildren, Stephanie (James) Box, Rachael Wilhelm, David (Jamie) Wilhelm, Daniel (Emily) Wilhelm, Michael (Mandy) Christensen, Renee Christensen, Andrew (Ashley) Wilhelm, Aaron Wilhelm , Morgan Gilbertson, Lauren Gilbertson and Ava Hudson. Marion also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren as well as her sister Betty Small and sister-in-law Agnes Burkhart. In addition to many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, Marion also leaves behind many dear friends including her prayer partner Joy.
