Mario Garcia Jr. 69, of Harlingen, Texas, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 5, 2017. Mario was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 19, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mario Garcia Sr. and Claudia Galvez de Garcia from Jalapa and Coatepec, Veracruz respectively; his former wife, Diana Longoria Garcia; brother-in-law, Vicente Ortiz; and sister, Maria Luisa Garcia.
He is survived by his daughter, Velma Jo Ann (Frank) Kotzur; two grandchildren, Urban and Liam Kotzur; 6 siblings, Ignacio Antonio (Frances), Jorge Arnoldo (Terrie), Maria de Los Angeles Longoria (Juan), Raul (Arminda), Dr. Anna Maria Garcia, DDS (Vicente Ortiz †), and Luiz (Monserrat).
Mario loved life and his parents’ places of birth Jalapa and Coatepec, Veracruz brought out the best in him. There he enjoyed nature’s beauty and old Mexican values’ atmosphere of extended family love, peace, tranquility, and cultural festivities. While Coatepec, he would walk 15 to 20 miles a day visiting cousins and partaking of Coatepec’s festivals and tropical flora of the area. His noble and merry life style was loved by all who knew him. His love for his grandchildren was second to none. Urban and Liam were always foremost in his heart. He always looked forward to dining and playing with his ninos. Mario, like his father was a painter by trade. He was the lead painter at T.S.T.C. for over 20 years. He graduated from Harlingen High School in 1967 and attended Pan American College.
