Mario De Grossi passed away on September 18th from complications due to cancer at Connecticut Hospice in Branford with family close by.
He was born in Italy in Reggio, Calabria on September 27th 1941. He was the son of Ferdinando De Grossi and Teresa (Locatelli) De Grossi.
He is survived by his beloved friend and companion of 40 years, Dorothy Miller of Preston, his daughter Mara Mazzarotto of New Jersey, his brothers, Egido De Grossi and his wife Rossanna of Rome, Italy, Luigi De Grossi and his partner Lalla Martellotti of Rome, Italy, his sister Giuseppina De Grossi and her husband Massimo Leone of Rome, Italy, his nephews, Stefan De Grossi, of Berlin, Germany and Davide De Grossi-Leone, of Lugano, Switzerland and his nieces, Sara De Grossi and Ester De Grossi-Leone of Rome, Italy. He will be deeply missed.
He moved to New York City in 1977. He was an artist and a scholar with many passions and interests and worked in New York City as a photographer and film maker. In 2010 he moved to Connecticut to begin writing the book about his life’s vocation, the mathematical principles governing the I Ching or Book of Changes, an ancient Chinese philosophical text.
