It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Marina Papurt of Havertown, PA, passed away on June 17, 2020 surrounded by her family.Affectionately known as Rene, Mom, Mom-mom, and Mimi by those who loved her, Marina was the ultimate caregiver. She treated everyone that she encountered as one of her own, providing love, humor, and food. So much food. She could always be counted on to bake a tray of chocolate chip cookies or brownies for any special occasion. And she made the best meatballs. Honestly, she made the best everything: from side veggies to Thanksgiving dinners, you could never be disappointed. And she always made enough to feed three times the number of people, so you would leave with a full belly and a bag of leftovers to take home.A friend recently described her as quietly kind. That statement couldn’t be more true. Everything she did, she did without boasting or expecting anything in return. She didn’t know how to text and she definitely didn’t have a smartphone, but she always remembered birthdays and anniversaries and made sure to pick up the phone and call. Even on her final days, so was still asking about loved true crime and had a knack for crafting. While she didn’t always call her family members by the right name, she loved each one of them the same. (When you have a husband, four kids, three grandkids, and have helped to raise many others, names don’t truly matter, do they?) If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of her ‘be careful’ comment before leaving the house or hanging up the phone, know that she loved you. It was her way of saying is survived by her husband, Ivan; children, Michelle, David (Samantha), Stephen, and Lisa; and grandchildren, Owen, Gianna, and Bella. And a whole bunch of family and friends who loved her.
