Marilyn S Outten, nee Kurwicki, 64, of Troy, Illinois, born April 25, 1953, in Centralia, IL., passed away on September 26, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, surrounded by loved ones.
After graduating from Nashville High School in 1971, Marilyn studied cosmetology and pursued a career as a stylist. She also enjoyed working in the food service industry which included several years as manager of the Dandee Inn Deli in Sparta, IL.
Always busy, Marilyn enjoyed working on craft projects, gardening, genealogy and collecting and arranging her bears. Gatherings with friends and family, especially in her home, were special times reflecting her warmth, creativity and fondness for ‘themes’.
Marilyn loved her pets, especially Sparky, and was a devoted volunteer at Partners For Pets. She was also an active member of the Looking Glass Corvette Club, an organization which provided Marilyn opportunities to serve, travel and to develop close friendships that brought her life much joy.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Dorothy (Konkel) Kurwicki.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William Outten, whom she married on July 7, 1973 and their daughter Rebecca Lynn Outten and Will Greeney of Troy, IL., her sister, Carolyn (James) Bathon of Swanwik, IL. Also surviving is her brother-in-law Steve (Theresa) Outten and sisters-in-law Connie (Tom) Miller, Terry (Ron) Hodel, Cathy Brakeman, Debbie (Alan) Ohms, and Barbara Outten, her Aunt Hattie Kurwicki and Uncle Lawerence (Josephine) Konkel of Nashville, IL., nine nieces and nephews, 29 grand nieces and nephews along with many cousins and dear friends.
Marilyn’s life was a blessing to so many and we celebrate her life with gratitude and love.
