Marilyn R. “Skip” Dailey, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa, on September 15, 2021.

Marilyn was born September 8, 1930 in Prescott, Iowa, to Ralph and Elsie (Wilmeth) Miller. After graduating high school, Marilyn moved to Des Moines and was employed at Hockenberg-Rubin for a short time. She then worked for Iowa Realty, Kamber VanDorn and for the remainder of her career she worked for Ken Grandquist. She retired in 1999. In 1954, she was united in marriage to James L. Dailey. They made their home in Des Moines, where they raised their two daughters, Paula Sue and Michelle.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her friends and family in their lake home in southern Minnesota, where they played many games of Pitch and had long days of fishing. She also enjoyed playing her organ and taking lesson at Critchett’s. She volunteered with Planned Parenthood and gave blood on a regular basis to the Blood Bank of Iowa. Her greatest love was watching her grandchildren and her great granddaughter grow and play. Many hours were spent in her lawn chair watching her grandchildren play ball.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Steve) Stone; grandson, James (Jessica) Stone, great granddaughter, Jemma and granddaughter, Stephanie Stone (Connor); as well as multiple nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elsie Miller; her husband, James; her daughter, Paula Sue; and five siblings, Margaret Kilgore, Gladys Porter, Irene Nelson, Jean Miller and Francis Miller.
