Marilyn P. McCarty, 72, of Sandborn, Indiana, formerly of Linton, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Montezuma, Indiana on November 18, 1935, she was the daughter of Louis and Mary Elizabeth (Fox) Phillips. On October 6, 1956, she married Daniel E. McCarty, who preceded her in death on September 14, 1987.
Marilyn was a secretary at Magnavox in Ft. Wayne, Edison Electric in Detroit, MI, Budget Analyst at Crane, Secretary for the City of Linton and Clerk for the Indiana Dept. of Transportation, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and alumni from Montezuma High School.
Survivors include daughter, Kelly D. Hughes and granddaughters, Kimberly and Krista Hughes, of Westphalia; son, Sean McCarty and granddaughter, Madison of Westphalia; son, Gerry McCarty and grandson, Matthew of Washington. Also surviving is one sister, Doris Weisheit of Ft. Wayne.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Donald and Paul Phillips and one sister, Joane Blackburn.
