Marilyn Kay Tilmon was born on December 23, 1946, in Nowata, Oklahoma to her parents, Joseph Williams and Alberta LaBlanc Williams. She was the first child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her sisters, JoAnn and Kim. As a child, she was known to be a bit of a tomboy. She enjoyed playing marbles, climbing trees and skating. The family remembers that when she was about seven, she sat on a nail which left a permanent mark. The family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she attended Manual High School. On June 19, 1971, Marilyn united in holy matrimony to Spencer Allen Tilmon. They first met when they both lived in Nowata, OK. They later re met when they both moved to Denver, Colorado. They exchanged vows at the Justice of Peace office located in Watertown, South Dakota. The couple enjoyed dancing, going to car shows, race cars and ride motorcycles. To this union, Lance, Shawn, Darrell, Spencer Ray, Jeffrey, and Cristy were born. They remember the family going fishing, camping, taking road trips to Oklahoma. They also enjoyed hunting, tubing down the Saint Croix River, sharing together during the many black light parties in the basement and house cleaning. She made sure there birthdays were special and they also remember the late night store runs for Pepsi and Salem 100’s cigarettes. Marilyn was later blessed with 22 grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her “Granny or Grandma Marilyn and fondly remember her cooking fried chicken, carving pumpkins, and going downtown on the light rail. They also remember how she spoiled them and how she loved giving them butterscotch candy. Marilyn was a homemaker whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family.
