Marilyn J. “Vollmer” Vieck, 87, of Vincennes, passed away Wednesday afternoon at 1: 05 PM at the Gentle Care Nursing Center with her family at her bedside.

Marilyn was born May 19, 1930 in Vincennes the daughter of Gilbert W. and Elizabeth Theriac Vollmer. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and on August 29, 1949 she married Francis G. “Francie” Vieck and they made their life together for nearly 51 years until his death in January 23, 2000. Marilyn was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, lifetime member of St. Thomas Altar Society, served as Co Chair Vincennes Bicentennial Committee, 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi, (member of the Order of the Rose), Fortnightly and a 60 year member of the Indiana Extension Homemakers Assoc and Town and Country Extension Homemakers. She was an avid bowler having participated in various league’s and loved to travel having been in all 50 states and 16 foreign countries. She and her husband were the first double inductees into The Brute Society and was an avid follower and worker for the George Field Reunion’s. Her special gift was how she played the piano accompanying her husband when he sang, church and at nursing homes as a lifelong passion.

She is survived by her children, Lonny Vieck, and his wife Jana of Vincennes, Beth Ann Murray, and her husband Tom of Evansville, IN, Karen Laue, and her husband Dan of Vincennes, Victoria Kramer, and her husband Richard of Vincennes, Tom Vieck, and his wife Susan of Swayzee, IN and Francis “Francie” Vieck II of Vincennes. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Matthew Vieck, Daniel Vieck, Adam Murray, Julia Murray, Valerie Meredith, Michelle Lee, Eric Laue, Jason Laue, Gabriel Vieck, Zachary Vieck, Aaron Vieck and Kristen Zogbi. She is also survived by 18 Great grandchildren and a sister Patty A. Lowe of Vincennes.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Vieck, a granddaughter, Monica Murray, her parents, Gilbert and Elizabeth Vollmer, brothers, Carl Vollmer, Marvin Vollmer and a brother in infancy.
