Marilyn Fay Cook was born on February 20, 1955 in Lubbock, Texas to James and Beulah Cook. She was one of eight children born to this union. As a young child, Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her siblings Clara, Mattie, Diane, Darlene, Ronnie, Vanessa and JoAnn. Marilyn was educated in the Lubbock Independent School District and graduated from Estacado High School in 1972. During her high school years she ran on the track team and participated in a number of clubs and activities. She later attended San Angelo State College in San Angelo, Texas and received her Associate Degree in Education. After college, she met Otis Priestley. Affectionately called “Dooley” by all of her family, He lovingly and jokingly called her “Hooley.” From this union they were blessed with one daughter, Mytika Ta’Rae. The family resided in Lubbock for 25 years, spending countless hours and many precious moments. In 2007, Marilyn relocated her family to Denver, Colorado to join her sisters Mattie and Darlene, and to support her daughter’s dreams and goals of becoming a Psychotherapist.
