Marilyn Elizabeth McKinney, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born December 3, 1932, the daughter of Harry and Nona McLane Owdom. She married Robert Eugene McKinney on December 23, 1951, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2004.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynette McKinney-Colman (husband Jeff) and two grandchildren, Paige and Mitchell Colman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan;  one sister, Margaret Hicks; and two brothers, Lyndell and Eldon Owdom.

Mrs. McKinney was a 1950 graduate of White Hall High School and a member of the South Side Christian Church in Springfield. She was employed by the University of Illinois Mathematics Project while her husband was attending Veterinary School at the University of Illinois. Marilyn also worked with her husband in his veterinary practice in Jacksonville for a short time. She retired as Director of Alumni Services at Illinois College in 1996 after working there for 16 years.

Marilyn was a member of the History Class in Jacksonville and a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church. She received the Friend of the College Award from Illinois College in 2002 and was the recipient of the Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow Award. Marilyn enjoyed traveling and quilting.
