Marilyn “Winkie” Dickinson Graulty, 87, of Cromwell , CT, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2016. Winkie spent the last six years residing at Covenant Village in Cromwell. Prior to relocating to Cromwell, she lived in South Lyme, CT for nearly 50 years. Winkie was born on March 14, 1929 to Mary Francis Dickinson and Roger Henry Dickinson in Hartford, CT. She grew up in West Hartford and attended school at The Junior School, Oxford School and Wellesley College. Winkie was married to William W. Graulty, Sr., and together they raised six children. Winkie volunteered in the Childrens’ Wing at Hartford Hospital as well at Renbrook School. In 1968, Winkie moved from West Hartford to Hatchetts Point in South Lyme. She was an active member of Friday Club in West Hartford for thirty-five years, researching, writing and delivering papers on an amazing variety of topics. Winkie was an artist, sailor, needle-pointer, knitter, and a voracious reader. She also enjoyed Mystic Seaport, classical music, attending classical concerts at Summer Music at Harkness Park, and discovering antiques. She loved living at the beach and spent her childhood summers at Crescent Beach, and at Black Point in Niantic, CT, prior to living at Hatchetts Point.
