Marilyn A. Freeman, age 87 of Freeport, IL, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at Parkview Home in Freeport. She was born November 8, 1930; the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Krupke) Schaeffer. She was a 1949 graduate of Freeport High School. Marilyn married Donald Freeman on July 17, 1954.
She had worked for Crum & Forster and later at Freeport Manor, retiring in 1986. She was also a homemaker for many years raising her family. Marilyn was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Freeport where she was a member of the First Lutheran OWLS. Her memberships also include the Stephenson County Home Extension, the 9 Hole Ladies Golf League at Park Hills, and the Red Hats. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, crafts, dancing and playing euchre. She was also an avid reader and loved to write letters. Most of all she loved traveling to watch her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her son, David W. Freeman, and his wife Stephanie and their son, Brandon (Jessica) Freeman and their son, Brantley; and daughter, Sarah (Ben) Loreto and their children, Westin & Alyssa all of Tucson , AZ. Four daughters: Karen Driscoll; Janelle Blomberg; Darla Kortemeier and her daughter, Megan and son, Derek all of Freeport; and Laura (Rodger) Fye of Winnebago, IL and their son, Logan (Emily) Fye and daughter, Kelsie (Jason Rice) Fye; and brother-in-law, Robert (Dianne) Freeman of “The Villages” Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and son-in-law, Brian Kortemeier.
