On October 27, 2021, Marilou Neltner Wagner, 87, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully. She will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew her for her kindness, humor and caring spirit.

Marilou was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 58 years, Don E. Wagner.  She is survived by her four children: Susan Tomi (Alan) of Scottsdale; Jill Matteson (Jim) of Centerville, OH; Don R. Marilou also leaves behind her six wonderful grandchildren who all cherished their Grandma Lou: Hannah Mée Matteson, Paige Suzanne Matteson, Kaylie Taylor Wagner, Joey Don Tomi, Thompson Nicholas Wagner, and Elouise Doncia Wagner.

Born in Kentucky on June 26, 1934, she spent her youth in Cincinnati, Ohio. Marilou attended the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1956 as a Registered Nurse. It was at UC where she met her beloved husband, Don. They wed on June 11, 1955. The couple moved from Cincinnati to Dayton, Ohio in 1958. They remained in Dayton for 27 years, where they raised their four children, before moving to Scottsdale in 1985. Throughout that time, Marilou worked as an RN in various medical practices before retiring from an allergy practice in 1998.

Over the years, Marilou enjoyed many activities with her friends and family, including camping, gardening, sewing, reading, cooking, and especially, baking.

Faith was a very important part of Marilou’s life, and she and Don were longtime members of Mountain View Presbyterian Church. She served God, and her Church Communities in Dayton (Southminster Presbyterian Church) and Scottsdale, as an Elder and Deacon. Marilou also served as President of a Women’s Association in Dayton. In Scottsdale, she founded a Women’s Group, organized a Couple’s Group, played in the Bell Choir and was an active member of the Red Hat Society. Marilou volunteered in numerous other activities and received Mountain View’s Volunteer Recognition Award.

By spreading her love, warmth and brightness, Marilou touched the lives of many. We will be celebrating her life and legacy on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Mountain View Presbyterian Church.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Weyrich Healthcare Center Staff for their care of Marilou.
