Murphy, Marietta H. Murphy, age 89, of Stratford, and formerly of Easton, passed away February 6, 2005 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Mrs. Murphy was born in Mamaroneck , N.Y. and was a longtime Easton resident. She was a retired nurse, having worked in the Carolton Convalescent Home for over thirty years. She practiced nursing until her mid seventies, caring for many people younger than herself. A devoted and caring mother, her family meant everything to her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by her husband, Thomas A. Murphy Sr. and five sisters: Catherine Haviland, Anna Didden, Madeline Plant, Grace Ponessa and Agnes Shock. She was the devoted mother of Thomas J. Murphy and his wife, Marlyn of Easton, and Richard Murphy and his wife, Elizabeth of Trumbull. She is also survived by two loving sisters, Mae Schoonmaker of Mamaroneck, N.Y. and Bertha Birkenstock of Danbury,CT., her cherished grandchildren: Darlene McKirdy, Kathleen Arvidson, James Murphy, Michael Murphy, Robert Murphy, Douglas Murphy, Colleen Murphy, Karen Gibson, and Glen Murphy, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
