Marie T. Levell
Levell, Marie Turner of Miami (Pinecrest) Florida passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on January 22, 2017 surrounded by loved ones, after a brave battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 22, 1931, she grew up in Aiea Heights where she enjoyed traditional luaus in her parents’ back yard, watched volcanic eruptions on nearby islands, witnessed the bombings at Pearl Harbor, and became an accomplished pianist.
Marie cherished the 16 years she lived in Memphis, Tennessee where she made lifelong friends and spent much of her time playing in tennis leagues, developing into one of the city’s best amateur tennis players.
During her 35 years in Miami, Marie established lasting friendships through her volunteer work with Patrons of the Museum of Science, Theater Arts League and membership at Riviera Country Club. She had a passion for art, chairing the art show at Riviera Country Club for 27 years and serving as an active committee member for 32 years.
Marie was a ball of energy and had a true love of life. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Harold Levell, her son Harris (Barbara) Levell, her daughter Libby Witherspoon, and her granddaughter Julia Witherspoon, as well as many other family members that she held dear to her heart.
While Marie will be greatly missed, she will remain in our hearts forever.
