Marie Stephens, 101 years old, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Marie was born on March 26, 1921 in Adair County, Kentucky a daughter of the late Oscar and Laura Alley Smiley. Marie was also preceded in death by her husband, C.C. Stephens in 2001.
In her spare time, Marie enjoyed spending time with her family, going to garage sales, gardening and playing Bingo. Marie is survived by three children: J.C. Stephens, Charlotte (Bob) Streib and Shelly Stephens. Three grandchildren: Ronnie Denham, Tammy Kitterman and Shelby Moore, several great and great-great-grandchildren. Along with several nieces and nephews, one sister Jean Quinn of Columbia, KY and two brothers Bobby Smiley of Indiana and Phillip Smiley (Brenda) of Campbellsville, KY.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Mable Smiley Burton and Doris Smiley, two brothers Demaree and Eldred Smiley and a grandson Scotty Stephens.
