Marie Josephine Metzger, 95 of West Bend was born December 6, 1912, the daughter of William and Ida (Banwart) Metzger. She attended country school in the West Bend and Whittemore area. In her early twenties, she moved to Elgin, Illinois, where she was employed. She returned to West Bend in 1967 and worked several years at the care centers in West Bend and Algona, Iowa. She will be remembered by her kind deeds of love, helping in many family circles. Marie was converted and on August 6, 1933 was baptized and has been a faithful member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
She entered the West Bend Care Center in 2006 and resided there until her death on April 28, 2008. Marie is survived by her brother Arnold Metzger of West Bend, IA, sisters, Darlene Metzger of West Bend, IA, and Zelma Knobloch of Lester, IA, sisters-in-law Della Metzger of West Bend IA, and Rosie Metzger of Emmetsburg, IA, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and cherished her. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Elizabeth Nester and Iola Knobloch, and her five brothers, Emil,Silas, Bernard, Wilmer and Adrian.
