Marie Johnson, 101, of Wall Township, New Jersey was called home by our Heavenly Father on July 4, 2016. She was born on November 24, 1914 in Macon County, Alabama to George Johnson and Lelia Mallory.
She was the eldest of six children. Marie moved north to New Jersey in1936 where she gained employment as an attendant in the Marlboro State Hospital. She remained employed at the hospital for 32 years before retiring due to health reasons. During that period of she raised three sons and one daughter.
Marie was predeceased by her son, Thomas Johnson of Neptune, NJ; daughter, Velma Page; parents, George Johnson and Lelia Mallory; brothers, Edward of Oakland, CA, Edwin Hunt of Cleveland, OH, and Eugene Johnson of Alabama; sisters, Georgia Cottman of Manalapan, NJ, Elnora Long of Cleveland, OH, and Thelma Baker of Buffalo, NY.
She is survived by sons, Phillip Hayes, Jr and John Driver Jr; five grandsons, John Driver III, Jaron Driver, Andre and Anthony Page, and Dane Hodge; three granddaughters, Kristy Page, Janeen Weedon (Driver), and Kiana Anderson; twenty one great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
