Augusta Marie Gossett Dillon, 96, of Rodburn Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, at her home.
She was born June 24, 1921, in Bourbon County, a daughter of the late Millard and Augusta Fritz Gossett. Besides her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her only sibling, Lillian Chinn Gossett Courtney, who was born March 14, 1919.
Her husband, Byron C. “Curt” Dillon, also preceded her in death on October 8, 1979.
Marie is survived by her special friend, Oveda Messer, and her guardian, Glendene Pack. She also leaves behind several devoted caregivers in her later years, including the most recent Amanda Blackburn, Tiffany Sampson, Judy Gulley, and J’Tasia Gulley.
Marie retired from the Atomic Energy Commission and the Office of the Rowan County Sheriff, where she was a clerk for 20 years for former Sheriff Jack Carter. Active in several organizations, she was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 2005 by Governor Paul Patton.
