Marie Felicia Lenox of Torrington, CT, died at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport on December 9, 2021 with her son Peter at her side. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Lenox was born in New York City, NY and had spent the last 22 years as a resident of Torrington, CT.

The daughter of a medical doctor, she had been a registered nurse for decades, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Grace Hospital School of Nursing of Detroit, Michigan in 1955. She practiced nursing at various Detroit area hospitals before relocating to New Jersey to assist in the firm of brother doctors Eugene and Victor Parsonnet. While there, she married her husband, Mr.

Before her life as a registered nurse, she was an accomplished musician, having studied music performance professionally, beginning with piano studies at the Detroit Conservatory of Music. She continued with studies in organ performance with Dr. E. Richard Wissmueller, a pupil of the legendary Parisian organist Marcel Dupré, Organiste Titulaire of the world-renowned Grand Orgues of l’Église Saint-Sulpice in Paris. While Dr. Wissmueller’s pupil, she became friends with the French-born American composer René-Louis Becker, who had coached her on the proper performance of his own organ works.

Her life as a concert organist took second place to her family once she married; however, her love for music never wavered, as she offered her great talent to her husband and children at home both in an exposure to the fine art of classical music and to performance on her Mason & Hamlin Parlor Grand piano.

In her later years, she was able to once again offer her musical talents in various ways. She was Music Teacher at Saint Michael the Archangel School in Bridgeport until its closure.
