Marie Kirlin Marie Kirlin (Miller), 77, of Aston, PA, passed away peacefully on February 15 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born to the late Joseph “Bud” and Marie “Betty” Miller on June 7, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA. Marie graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in Philadelphia in 1961 and met future husband, the late Jim Kirlin, at St. Joseph’s University’s Twilight Players theater group. The two married in 1966, and lived Pennsylvania, Delaware, Massachusetts and Connecticut before settling in Aston in 1977, where they raised a family. Marie balanced raising her family with a career, working at Neumann College, the Institute for Christian Counseling and Therapy, and Swarthmore College. She was also active at St. Joseph’s parish as a lector and Eucharistic minister. People who knew her loved her sweet, gentle and empathetic spirit, and sharp sense of humor. She lived by the words she shared with others: “Love one another and take care of each other.”Marie is survived by four children: Jim Jr., Katy (Michael) Kirlin, Christy (Harold) Pickar, and Amy (Steve) Staniec; six grandchildren: Nicholas, Isabelle, Michael, CJ, Sam and Shea; and her brother, Joe Miller. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 2009. She was devoted to her family and deeply proud of how everyone turned out (even Katy).
