Marie LeSelva
Marie Vincenzina “Chin” LaSelva, of Ridgefield passed away peacefully with her cats at her side, in her home on September 28, 2013.
Born in New York City, New York on June 18, 1928, Marie was one of 10 children. She is the daughter of the late Rosario V LaSelva, Sr and Maria (LoRusso) LaSelva of Bethel, CT formerly, Pelham, NY. She was predeceased by her lifetime companion Florence “Pat” Van Loan.
“Chin” as she was known by her family and friends lived life everyday to the fullest. She was an eternal optimist, always seeing the brighter side of life. Marie was an inspiration in every challenge life brought her. She started everyday thanking God for “giving me this day.
Marie loved all animals and referred to her cats Peter and Paul as her “children.” A true nature lover she lived in the perfect home on a lake where she enjoyed the outdoors, walks around the lake and all God’s creatures. Her happiest days were spent from her teens into her later years playing softball. One team she played for was the Traendly Rosebuds and the year they won the Recreation Girls Softball League championship Marie achieved a batting average of .413.
Marie spent a lifetime working as a machinist into her 80’s, developing parts for the Hubbell Spacecraft, mammography machines and other vital medical equipment used to this day advancing the medical field.
Marie is survived by her brother Rosario LaSelva, Jr. of Bethel, CT and sister Angela Scarano of Pelham, NY. She was predeceased by her sisters Anna Gaita of Norwalk, CT and Lucy LaSelva of Pelham, NY, her brothers, Vincent LaSelva, Carmen LaSelva, Vito LaSelva, Leo LaSelva and Kelly LaSalva. She is survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. May she rest in peace.
