MARIE CLAIRE DUMOND DERBY, 87 Wynantskill, NY – Marie Claire Dumond Derby, 87, died Thursday at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Thomas Derby. Born in Lawrence, MA, she was daughter of the late Octave and Angelina Levesque Dumont. She was a direct descendant of Jacques Gueret-Dumont and Robert Levesque of Normandie, FR. Marie was educated at Sacred Heart School in South Lawrence and studied piano with a protege of a student of the great Paderewsky. She was an accomplished pianist. Mrs. Derby was employed many years ago by the Pemberton, Washington and Shawsheen Textile Mills in the Lawrence and North Andover area. She has been a resident of the Troy area since 1947. Mrs. Derby served as cafeteria manager for the Wynantskill School District until her retirement in 1974. Survivors include 2 daughters: Janet T. Derby of North Greenbush and Mrs. Gregory (Theresa-“Terry”) Seleman of Loudonville; one sister Isabelle LaRo5e of Lawrence, 2 cherished grandchildren Jonathan and Casey Seleman and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters: Alma Houle, Alice Boains, Ann Buckley; Rene, Wilfrid, Arthur, George and Octave Dumond Jr.
