Marie Ann Boucher, 70, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2014, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 12, 1943 in St. Albans, VT the oldest of 5 children of Mildred Bessette Rocheleau and the late Gerard Rocheleau. She graduated from Bellows Free Academy and continued her studies at Fanny Ellen College of Nursing. After graduation, she worked at Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, VT as an LPN. She married her high school best friend Norman “Norm” Gerard Boucher, on May 4, 1961, and they were stationed with the U.S. Navy in CA where they started their beautiful life together. They returned to VT after 5 years , where Norm’s career with IBM opened up a new opportunity to move to Merritt Island, FL. It was here that Marie enjoyed raising her boys and becoming involved with their lives as school nurse, soccer coach, football mom, school chaperone and wherever she was needed. She also worked for Premier Cruise Lines for 12 years, greeting passengers with her beautiful smile. Soon after retiring from Premier, she and Norm opened a real estate/building company, Boucher Realty and Custom Building, where she stayed busy assisting in office duties and helping clients decorate their new homes.
Many of Marie’s hobbies were biking, hiking, taking long walks on the beach, cooking, sewing, and decorating, but mostly traveling. After their retirement, she and Norm traveled to 15 different countries, her favorite being South Africa. She also enjoyed her time in VT where they built a beautiful summer home. Marie loved adventure, listening to symphonies in the park, going to plays at the local theater, and biking the beautiful trails in VT.
Besides the success of a 50 year marriage to Norm, Marie considered her greatest pride and joy to be in her three sons, Michael Gerard Boucher of Merritt Island, FL; Matthew Norman Boucher of Indialantic, FL; and Jeffrey John Boucher (Leslie) of Merritt Island, FL. and her 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Not only was she the perfect wife, she was a loving mother, a grandmother who spoke wisdom, a kind heart, and a true friend. She will be missed not only by her family, but by the people she met and touched.
The family wishes to thank all of those who have offered support and prayers through this very difficult journey, and to the nurses and staff at VITAS Hospice of Merritt Island.
