Marie Blanche (Halverson) Doramus, 97, passed away on May 20, 2018.
Marie was born on January 31, 1921 in Nance county, Nebraska. Marie was the oldest child of 6 children born to Arthur and Blanche Halverson. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1938 with a school teacher certificate. In the summer of1942, she went to Kearney for teacher re-certification classes. In May 1944, she married Dick Doramus of Nampa, a farmer near the Happy Valley School where she was teaching. They were married for 59 years. Marie was actively involved in the Happy Valley and Kuna communities while the children were in school. She was a member of the PTA at both Happy Valley and Kuna. She spent several years as a 4H leader where she enjoyed teaching sewing skills. She liked learning new skills and the company of her friends when she was a member of different county extension clubs. She learned how to upholster furniture through her extension club meetings. The chair she upholstered is at her son Mark’s house. The sofa she did later is still being used in the cabin at Camp Wilbur Stover.
After Marie and Dick retired from farming, they spent many days at Camp Wilbur Stover.
Marie is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen and her daughter Sarah of LaVerne, CA; and Gail (Ken) Kaae of Boise, ID and their sons, James of Renton, WA and Jon of Boise; son in law, Roger Krug, McMinnville, OR and his daughter, Janelle of Tualatin, OR and his son, David (Justyne) of Hillsboro, OR; and son, R. Mark Doramus, Middleton, ID. Her sister, Laurene (Dwayne) Skogsberg of Boise, ID. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Doramus; a son James and daughter Mary Jane Krug; her brothers, Ronald, Edgar, and Robert Halverson and a sister, Margaret Millican.
