Marie Beatrice Garcia Childers, 89
Marie Beatrice Garcia Childers went to our Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2008. She was born on December 18, 1918 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, numerous brothers, sisters and her husband of 34 years Lt. Houston Joseph Childers, US Navy (Retired), who passed away July 13, 1984. She leaves behind daughters Pamela E. Hall of Alamogordo, NM and Yvette Childers of Plano, TX, Fred E. Wallis of Alamogordo, NM, grandsons Joseph M. Applewhite of Houston, TX, Jesse C. Childers of Oklahoma City, OK, Matthew T. Hall of Gadsden, AL, and granddaughter Amelia Marie Hall of Gadsden, AL., one great granddaughter Piper Applewhite of Houston, TX., brothers Gilberto Garcia, (and wife Rose) of Corpus Christi, TX, and Paul Salinas, (and wife Toni) of Victoria, TX. and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was a very devoted Catholic, wife, and mother. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Always giving and never taking her heart was always open to listen to others. Marie was a dedicated and supportive military wife who inspired adaptability and courage in those who knew her. Prior to her passing, she endured with exemplary courage the effects of rheumatoid arthritis. Never complaining, but accepting her own illness, she was truly a living, breathing prayer.
