Marie A. Kaney 96, of Centralia passed away on Friday, March 9th 2012 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia. She was born on July 24, 1915 daughter of Ammon & Ida Mae (Lordan) Schultz. She married Vernon Kaney on July 14, 1936 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1996. She is survived by five daughters; Sharon Baumgartner of Overland Park, KS, Terry Bell and husband Harvey, Mary Finckbone and husband Richard, Jan Feig and husband Tom all of Centralia and LuAnn Pugh and husband Steve of Richview; one sister Mary Louise Oldham of Springfield, Illinois; 11 grandchildren Laura Purdy, Lisa Conklin, Tony Bell, Susan Niepoetter, Sarah Tomlin, Tina Brunson, Tracy Devore, Teresa Hutchison, Jennifer Simonton, Andy Feig and Hap Pugh; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Anne Francis McKenzie, and Mildred Erskine; one brother Harold “Bud” Schultz; great-granddaughter Jessie Purdy and a great-grandson Emry Michael Pugh. Ms. Kaney operated a beauty shop in her home and also worked at J.C. Penny in the shoe department. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, A member of the Altar Society, Catholic Daughter of America, and a Pink Lady at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed being in the Pinochle club, was an avid bowler, enjoyed sewing and baking cookies for her neighbors, she loved being with her family but especially the babies.
