Marian Lee Carson Sarraga, beloved wife of Ramon F. Sarraga for more than 43 years, passed away in Troy, Michigan, on April 11, 2018. Marian and her husband had no children.

Marian was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, on September 14, 1938. She attended Emerson Elementary School and was a 1957 graduate of Flagstaff High School. She graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1962 and later received a MS in botany from Rutgers University and worked as a research assistant at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where she met her future husband.

She also worked as a teacher for a short time in California and Arizona. After marrying Ramon in 1974, she and her husband lived for a year in Puerto Rico and then moved to Michigan, where Ramon became a research scientist at the General Motors Research and Development Center. Marian and Ramon had a hobby of historical research in Europe and together published a few articles in history journals. In 1989, Marian was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and she endured this progressive, debilitating neurological disease with stoic dignity and great patience, never complaining.

She was admired by all who knew her, especially her disconsolate husband, who can only paraphrase Proverbs 31:10-12, “Who will find a strong wife? For her value is far above precious gems. Her husband’s heart trusted in her, and great benefits were never lacking. She was good to him, and never bad, all days of her life.”
