Marian “Jan” Woodcox, 78, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on May 24, 1943 to the late Stephen E. and Marian W. (Diedrich) Megyese in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis A. Woodcox; and two brothers, Stephen and James Megyese.
Jan graduated in 1961 from Riley High School in South Bend. She retired on September 1, 2014 from the St. Joseph County Auditor’s office in South Bend, IN, after 22 years of employment. Jan was also employed by Things To Do and St. Joseph Hospital for many years.
On November 17, 1962, as Marian Janice Megyese, she married Dennis A. Woodcox at Faith United Methodist Church in South Bend, IN. Dennis passed away on February 26, 2005.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Danny) Hall of South Bend, IN; son, Mark (Lisa) Woodcox of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Daniel D. Hall; Christina (Randy) Hall; Michael (Brianna) Varda; and Brandon (Stacie) Varda; seven great grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Megyese of Maryville, IL; and Thomas (Darlene) Megyese of South Bend, IN.
