Marian Bertrand Shaw died on February 18, 2014.  A contemporary renaissance woman, she was artistic, fashionable, and adventurous.  She worked as an illustrator for the Times Picayune and also for NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility.  Over the years, her talent evolved into the fine arts.  She was a past president of the Louisiana Water Color Society.

Even at the age of 88, Mrs. Shaw was still stylish and beautiful.  One of the first runway models in New Orleans, she also appeared in several publications, including an issue of Glamour magazine in 1947.

Mrs. Shaw’s true passion, however, was her family and her Catholic faith.  She was the daughter of Bill and Mamie Bertrand.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl C. Shaw, her son, Greg Shaw and his wife, Jane, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and her daughter, Melanie Shaw Seymour and her husband, Pete, of Mary Esther, Florida.  She was also the loving grandmother of Mariah and Reed Shaw.  Special thanks are given to her wonderful caregivers, especially DeAnn Daniels and Kathy Garcia.
